I started my work experience at Snug after I finished college and continued through the 1st year of studies. Following completion of my studies, I am currently based at another practise within the South Coast area who specialise in healthcare and bespoke residential projects.

Model Making
Model making has been something I have particularly enjoyed during my work experience at Snug. I was given the brief of making a 1:100 foamboard model of an iteration of one of the firms most recent projects in Milford-Upon-Sea. The design had a shallow bend which separated alternating floors. I was given the task to make the model so that one half could be taken apart from the other to display a cross section of the stairways connecting the floors. The galley below displays and explains the processes used to make the model.
These images show the renders of the final iterations of the house. It shows the design is quite different to the model made of an earlier iteration because of constant refinements and development of the design over the course of months.
This helped me appreciate how many changes and developments are required in design projects to make the concept meet clients needs and comply with building regulations.
An Architectural Technologist would be a key member in advancing the development process by using CAD and physical models to allow iterations of the final design to be produced and tested easily and efficiently to maximise the success of the final outcome.
TRAINING AND OFFICE EXPERIENCE
Being in an office environment has helped me develop many critical soft skills including contributing towards a collaborative team working ethic, corresponding with clients, consultants and other professionals and adapting to the workload by assessing and prioritising tasks which range in scale and timeframes.
CPD sessions have allowed me to broaden my understanding and ensure I stay informed with the latest changes and developments within the construction industry which have resulted in positive discussions with how the team can apply these within each project.
